We are pleased to announce the publication of a new RISERS Factsheet, From Waste to Resource: Reforming End-of-Waste Criteria through Standards, now available in the Resources section of our website and on ZENODO within the RISERS Community.
Based on the findings of the RISERS project, this fact sheet provides an overview of the EU’s current End-of-Waste (EoW) system, highlighting the main regulatory pathways, key challenges, and real case studies. It explains how dispersed regulation and excessively complex procedures hinder the development of the circular economy and cross-border trade.
The publication also presents the RISERS proposal to replace traditional EoW criteria with harmonised standards, simplifying the transition from waste to secondary raw materials and fostering industrial symbiosis across Europe.
