The RISERS Draft Industrial Symbiosis Standardisation Roadmap is now available — and we invite you to take part in shaping its final version.
Industrial symbiosis has enormous potential to transform how Europe uses resources. By enabling companies to use under-utilised resources from other sectors — from materials and energy to infrastructure and data — it can reduce waste, lower emissions, strengthen competitiveness and build more resilient industrial ecosystems.
Yet scaling these solutions requires more than good practice. It requires clarity, interoperability and coordinated standardisation.
That is why RISERS has developed a draft European Standardisation Roadmap — based on:
- analysis of high-impact industrial symbiosis cases across Europe,
- input from 10 thematic Working Groups,
- contributions from around 120 experts from industry, research, policy and standardisation.
The roadmap does not impose new standards. Instead, it identifies where standardisation can remove barriers, reduce uncertainty and support scalable implementation across sectors such as steel, batteries, packaging, waste heat, textiles, biomass and energy systems.
Now it’s your turn.
We are launching a public consultation to ensure the roadmap reflects real-world needs and can effectively support future European standardisation and policy initiatives.
