The RISERS project contributed to the 2025 EURAS Conference with a poster and paper on “Practitioner-Centred Standardisation for Industrial Symbiosis: Insights from the European RISERS Survey”. The conference gathered around 50 participants from the research and standardisation communities, providing a valuable platform for exchange and collaboration.
Among nine posters presented at the event in Madrid, the RISERS contribution generated strong interest from researchers exploring how standards can better support circular economy and industrial symbiosis practices. The paper and poster highlighted:
- The need for greater cross-sector coordination in standardisation to enable industrial symbiosis;
- Gaps in existing standards, particularly regarding end-of-waste status, digitalisation, and data sharing;
- Recommendations for revising key standards, integrating R&I results into standardisation, and strengthening practitioner involvement;
- The importance of capacity building to equip stakeholders with the skills needed to engage in standardisation.
The RISERS team thanks the EURAS organisers for the opportunity and looks forward to further dialogue on aligning standardisation with innovation for a more circular economy.
